Virgo’s practicality lays the foundation for substantial cultural changes
The last of the long days of summer arrived in late August as the sun left the energetic and playful sign of Leo and entered the more practical, service-oriented sign of Virgo. On August 25-27, dynamic planetary aspects get us moving to make some important changes that we may have been contemplating for many weeks. A series of three eclipses in July and August have catalyzed the need for substantial changes in our personal lives, our work, and in the political, economic, and social systems world-wide. In late August and early September, we experience an ever-increasing pressure to bring significant transformation into our lives.

September’s gift-Streamline and improve our lives
While the sun is in the analytical, detail-oriented and methodical sign of Virgo from August 22 until September 22, we have the highest possibility of seeing exactly where our lives are out of balance, and exactly how to restore equilibrium. Of course, people born with the sun, moon or rising sign in Virgo enjoy having this penetrating insight as an inherent part of their being, while the rest of us fumble around trying to “get it right”. But this month we have a double and triple dose of Virgo to work with, so we should all be sufficiently motivated to streamline and improve our lives.

Pisces full moon sheds light on new pathways in our work and expression
We can expect to be deeply challenged as pressure from an intense planetary aspect builds beginning August 26, reaching a culmination at the full moon on September 4. Specifically, the nature of our work, and how we do our work, is undergoing transformation. Inherent in this present challenge is the need to let go of our attachment to “the way it has been”. Fortunately, the Pisces full moon on September 4 sheds much light on the existing dilemma, bringing to our awareness the specific avenue that can be taken to nurture new pathways of expression and endeavor. Retrograde Mercury’s promise; We get current and make room for new creation
On September 6, the planet of communications, Mercury, turns retrograde (apparent backwards motion) in Libra. For those familiar with this phenomena, I can hear the groans now….but have you considered that this is a very natural cycle which occurs approximately every four months? While it is true that, when Mercury is retrograde, we may experience delays with existing projects, and much of our attention will be required to complete old projects, it is also true that in doing so, we free up energy for new creation by patiently focusing on tying up loose ends before we commit our energy to new endeavors. Mercury begins its retrograde in Libra and backs up into Virgo, indicating the areas that need special attention are: our personal relationships, daily routines and health. So, the suggestion from your local astrologer is to experiment this month with deciding to enjoy the Mercury retrograde period from September 6 until the 29. Pay attention to completing old business, plans for improving health, and communications that require completion, and enjoy crossing them off your list!

Pluto brings transformation, leading to connection with our soul’s evolution
The planet of healing and transformation, Pluto, after five months in retrograde motion during which we have been reviewing the systems we have previously set in place in our lives and in our society, resumes direct motion in Capricorn on September 10. With Pluto’s change of motion, we get clear about whatever we need to release or transform in our lives. As we move further into the autumn season and Pluto gathers momentum, it will begin a series of challenges with Saturn, and later Uranus that catalyze profound changes in our culture, equal at least in measure to the global awakening of the late 60’s that shook our values and beliefs to the core, making room for a new wave of heightened consciousness. Powerful influences mid-month break through out-dated paradigms, bringing new insights
Saturn and Uranus, two powerful forces that have been at play all year and are having an enormous influence on our cultural milieu converge once again on September 15 to support us in breaking though old paradigms, surrendering out-dated beliefs, and awakening to the inner guidance of our Higher Self. How do we accomplish this? In a word, let go, simplify, and follow your inner voice of truth. A new moon on September 18 provides the seed for a new beginning; at this moment the sun and moon, coupled with Saturn and Mercury conjoin in Virgo. This gives us practical insight, incisive perception, and the discipline to achieve, propelled by Uranus’ huge push for change. Insights and decisions may come now, and we can begin releasing all that would hold us back in our pursuit of awakening.

Autumnal Equinox arrives with dynamic yet graceful call for cultural changes
The planet of love, art and beauty, Venus, reminds us in mid-September to attune our hearts with the call of our Soul to find unity of purpose for all of humanity. The sun completes its sojourn through Virgo, entering Libra at the Autumnal Equinox on September 22, and immediately forms a right angle to transformational Pluto in Capricorn. If this is any hint to the quality of the fall season, we can expect a dynamic set of energies propelling us toward real and lasting cultural change. While Pluto’s job is to bring needed challenges to the status quo, a soft aspect from Venus at the same time tempers Pluto’s intensity with loving good will and graceful acceptance. Each month there are days that are more ideal for starting new endeavors, forming new partnerships, or signing leases and making important contractual agreements, including buying property, starting a new business or getting married. Because of the Mercury retrograde factor, there are not many of those days in September. If you must start something entirely new in September, the best days would be September 1-4. There are a few reasonably good days for advancing ongoing projects: September 9, 26, 27 and 29, and you may expect positive final results despite operational difficulties on: September 8, 13, 15, and 17.
