We invite the WIN & the NIM to join us for a powerful, informative and networking evening!!

Topic:
The Best of Times, The Worst of Times: Climate Change & Canadian Solutions. Join us for a dynamic evening with former Green Party of Canada (GPC) leader Jim Harris discussing climate change and Canadian solutions.

The Green Party has the support of 14% of electors according to a September Harris/Decima poll and another 29% of Canadians are considering voting Green.  Two-thirds of Canadians are very seriously worried about the threat that climate change poses to their children and grandchildren. And voters trust the Green Party two-to-one over old line traditional parties to deal with this issue.

The Stern Report, commissioned by the UK Chancellor of the Exchequer, found that left unchecked climate change would cost the global economy $7 trillion – or 20% of global GDP. Further that 40% of remaining species would go extinct by 2050 and coastal flooding due to rising sea levels would create 200 million ecological refugees. This was not a wild eyed environmentalist warning the world – this was the former chief economist of the world bank, Sir Nicholas Stern. But Stern offered hope: if we act swiftly, if we act decisively to prevent these consequences it will cost only 1% of GDP and create millions of new jobs in new industries.

Energy efficiency, hybrid taxis, renewable energy, tax shifting, electoral reform in Ontario all offer tremendous cause for hope. In this thought provoking talk learn about the wealth of solutions and how you can make a difference.
